Random Picture day

.
Slim pickins today, so here's a random photo for you!  I found this cute face in a box of magazine clippings.  Who remembers when all of our info came from magazines??  I have a ridiculously large collection of horse magazines and clippings.  All I know is that this was labelled as "Bali Bazon (Arabian)".  I hope he (?) is a purebred Arabian, the markings look like they could be sabino...  But they could have meant Arabian in a more liberal sense, I've got no access to the Arabian databases.

  1. Bali Bazon is a purebred Arabian gelding born in 1992. His DNA was verified. Not only did he have that large belly spot, he had markings under his chin/jaw, which are not visible in this picture.

Bask El Amigo, a Bask* son, was his sire. His dam was Gailerisa, a Gazon daughter. He was linebred, with Bask* appearing again on the sire's dam's side, and Gazon appearing again on the dam's dam's line.

From the markings on the Datasource, his dam looks Sabino, too. Sadly, it looks like his dam passed away about 7 weeks after his birth. He has a maternal half-sister.

  2. Wow, thanks very much! I had this clipping for years, but never had access to the Arab database. Poor guy was orphaned, eh? Awww...
