Can't believe I hadn't posted these yet!
Here are some cool pics of a "chubari style" dapple grey. I don't think any genetic mechanism has even been theorized for these type of dapples, and the horse will grey out.

ReplyDeleteThe Tetrarch, a Thoroughbred stallion (foaled 1911), was marked the same way. Yes, they will completely gray out eventually. Pretty horse.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I am only finding this now! I actually raised this horse and I own him still. He is my forever horse ha. Anonymous is right he did grey out eventually, but he has kept his dark legs and an almost vein-like pattern on his legs. I got so many comments on him when I took him to shows!
ReplyDeleteMagic was actually born chestnut and then turned a dark grey with red splotches before they faded into the light grey ones you see in the photos.
